On Friday, the Welding class had one of GAC's alumni come in to talk to the students about his welding career and his education path outside of high school. Tyler spent two hours showing the students different techniques and answering their questions. Thank Tyler for taking time to give back.

Congratulations to Sarah Bruders for being voted in as "Artist of the Month" for February! She has a lovely colored pencil drawing featuring a character she designed. She was able to celebrate with a lunch at the Chippewa Club in Iron Mountain with the other schools in the ASA organization. Stephan Wysocki was the local artist for this month's lunch and he went over how to do a portrait with tips and tricks. Each student posed and he did small oil paintings of each of the students within a time limit. Congratulations again!

After yesterday's competition the student had a tour of the Metals and Auto lab at Nicolet. During the tour we bumped into a familiar face, one of GAC'S alumni. Erik led the students on a tour of the facilities and answered the students questions. Great to see Erik and see his accomplishments.

Welding students from GAC competed in the preliminary competition at Nicolet College yesterday. Despite being nervous they all stepped up and performed very well. The judges complemented them to me not only how good they welded but how polite they were. 2 welders will be chosen to move on to the next level and compete against other schools March 1st. Great job welders and good luck.

This fall I wrote then recieved a grant for the purchase of two hydroponic growers for the homestead class. The students have raised lettuce that was used for the school lunch program for the first time today. They are in the process of raising fresh vegetables to provide the school with a steady supply of locally grown food for the lunch program. Great job homesteaders!

Good morning. Forest County did not salt HWY 8 yet. The roads are snow covered with a glaze of ice. Marinette roads are a bit better. The snow total forecast has decrease for us to around 2". So, we will run on a two hour delay, but plan to run the rest of the day as of right now. - Mrs. Wysocki

FCPC Museum Cultural Center, Library, and Museum have been working diligently with local schools to help provide accurate materials about American Indian people, written by American Indian Authors. We have been helping teachers and administrators for years to provide materials in compliance with WI Act 31. This year the Cultural Center wanted to help our local Forest County Schools by donating some of the newest and our favorite books written by American Indian Authors to add to their school libraries. The donation included 26 new titles, including children’s books, YA adult fiction, Historical Fiction, and teacher resources.

The High School Art classes have been working on clay Tic-Tac-Toe boards! They had to sketch out a few ideas with different themes and then used the slab technique in pottery for the boards and pieces. The boards were fired and then finished off with acrylic paint. They are ready to play. We have a koi pond with lily pads, a berry pie, a pizza with pineapple and olives, a wilderness scene being walked through, and a Pac-Man-themed board. All turned out so lovely and it was a fun process from sketching to rolling the clay out, to forming the pieces, and painting.

Congratulations to Jasmine Slawinski for being voted the Artist of the Month for December! She was voted in based on her grid ink drawing of the statue of David. We celebrated with the other schools in the ASA (Kingsford, Florence, Iron Mountain, Niagara, Norway, Pembine, and West Iron) with lunch and a local artist demo of macramé.
