Today we are thankful & appreciative of Mrs. Majewski! How long have you been teaching here? I taught at Goodman from 1969-1972. Left to raise children. Returned to Goodman in 2000 and retired in 2011. In between I taught 16 years in the Wabeno School D. I came out of retirement last year to teach 3/4 grades as they couldn't find a teacher. What are some things you like about teaching at a small school? Goodman wasn't always a small district. I've had classes ranging from 18-32 students. I was born and raised in Goodman so I know the student's families. In fact, returning this year I have taught a parent or relative of all but 3 of my present students. What made you want to become a teacher? I wanted to do 2 things either a nurse or a teacher. I decided that if I had patients die, I didn't know if I could handle that on a daily basis. I had plenty of nieces and nephews to entertain and we always had lots of fun. I seem to be able to get along with just about any kid and discipline was always my strong suit. What do you like to do for fun when you aren't teaching? When I'm not here, I like to ride my bike but at 74 it's not as easy as it used to be but I still love it. I love to read and when not teaching a book a week is par. Gardening, be it flowers or vegetables, is my summer activity as well as swimming. Like to fish and hike. Snowshoe in winter and curl up with a book. When time and money are available I like to travel. Last May I went to Ireland and Iceland. April to Mexico. What did you do before you worked here? Was retired until this year. Teaching is what I love and have enjoyed this year but found my mind is willing but my body isn't. If you have any pets what are they and their names: We always had dogs. Now I feed the birds. I would like another dog but until I get to where I can't travel then I'll get another dog. Is there anything else you would like to share? You won't get rich teaching but if you're good at it, you've made friends for life. There is more to learn in life other than "book learning" but it's the starting point. We are truly thankful that she came out of retirement to teach the 3rd & 4th-grade classes this year.

Today we appreciate Mrs. Harvath! Bryson asked Mrs. Harvath the following questions... How long have you been teaching here? I have been teaching 5th and 6th grade in Goodman for 5 years. What are some things you like about teaching at a small school? I enjoy getting to know all of the students and working with them in small groups or individually! I also enjoy working with the other amazing teachers! Everyone steps up to help with whatever is needed! What made you want to become a teacher? I wanted to become a teacher because I had some really awesome teachers growing up that really made an impact on my life. I want to make an impact in the lives of students that teach as well. What do you like to do for fun when you aren't teaching? When I'm not teaching, I like to read, play and watch sports, go hiking, go four-wheeling, and spend time with my husband, family, and friends. What did you do before you worked here? Before I worked at GAC, I taught Spanish to 4k through 8th-grade students at a small school near Green Bay for 3 years. Before that, I was in college at UW-Green Bay and graduated in 2015. We all thank Mrs. Harvath for the work she does at GAC!

Today we are appreciating Ms. Wahl! Bryson decided to interview the Elementary Teachers through email. Learning all about a different interview process. Bryson asked Ms. Wahl the following questions... How long have you been teaching here? I have been the first and second-grade teacher at GAC for 2 years. What are some things you like about teaching at a small school? I really love teaching at a small school for many reasons. I love the small class size, the close bonds I can form with students and colleagues, and the "home" feel it has. What made you want to become a teacher? Ever since I was little, I would dream of being a teacher. I would play pretend teacher with a whiteboard propped up in the kitchen and a classroom full of imaginary students. I would ask for workbooks as gifts so I could use them playing teacher. I've always had a love for kids and knew this is what I wanted to do. What do you like to do for fun when you aren't teaching? I love to be outside and spend time with my family. I try to bring out my creative side by doing art projects on procreate or canva. What did you do before you worked here? Before I worked here, I was living in Illinois finishing up college. I went to Joliet Junior College where I got my associate's degree and Illinois State University where I got my bachelor's degree. In between that, I spent as much time as I could with my younger sister and brother. If you have any pets what are they and their names? I have a small white dog that is American Eskimo and Pomeranian mixed. Her name is Paloma. Is there anything else you would like to share? I hope that one day my students will look back and remember some of their days with me in this classroom and smile. We thank Ms. Wahl for all she does at the Elementary School!

Good morning due to the road conditions, GAC will run on a two hour delay Monday, May 1. Again school will start at 10 AM today.

Congratulations to the GAC Forensics team on their performance in Madison. Katelyn got a perfect score and received a gold medal. Jasmine, Layla, and Minna received silver medals. Marlie, Sarah, Laynee & Lauryn all received bronze medals. Everyone did an amazing job, and I could not be prouder.

ASA Show is tomorrow (4/17/23) at Kingsford! Viewing starts at 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The award program starts at 6. There are 50 awards to be given out! Come see the beautiful artwork from the 8 schools (Kingsford, Iron Mountain, Norway, Pembine, West-Iron, Florence, Niagara, and Goodman) in the ASA Program.

Here are some Art Class highlights from 1st/2nd Grade, 5th/6th Grade, and 7th grade: 1st & 2nd Graders made a happy spring frog out of construction paper to celebrate the warmer weather! 5th & 6th grade were working on ballpoint pen drawings from a photo reference and had a great time with it. 7th graders are glazing or painting their pinch pots & freeform clay sculptures so they can finish out the pottery unit.

Join us for the Musical Showcase "Music Through The Decades" Concert on Wednesday, April 26 at 6:00 PM in the GAC HS gym! Presented by: PK-6th Choir, 3rd & 4th Grade Recorder Band, 6th Grade Band & Solo Musical sections from our High School students!

Goodman-Armstrong Creek is a part of the Association of Student Artists (ASA) and our big exhibition is happening next week, Monday the 17th! Several students are participating with different artworks for viewing from 4 pm to 6 pm with the awards to follow. This is happening at Kingsford High School. There are 7 other schools participating in this and we'd love to see you there for the viewing and to vote for People's Choice!

The 5th and 6th graders have really been enjoying solving the large sudoku puzzle in their classroom!

Bunny Loves!

Mr. Wysocki has been teaching at Goodman for 4 years. When I asked him what he liked about teaching at a small school, he said there is more student interaction, one on one interactions, he likes being able to find out specific student interests, and being able to tailor his teaching towards their interests. Some things he likes to do outside of school include Four Wheeling, motor biking, working on engines, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and anything with his kids. Before he was a teacher at our school his family owned a farm and a mill, and he also installed security systems in banks. I asked him if he had any pets and he said he has a dog named Vegas, and two cats named Buck and Fritzy. He says that the thing that pushed him to be a teacher was that when he was younger he didn't have a lot of different career paths to choose from. He didn't have a teacher that could help him and push him toward different career opportunities. He really enjoys being able to do that for the students and being able to teach kids different ways that they can find work. He likes being able to show the kids that there are a lot of different ways to make a living. I would also like to add that he is more than willing to help students with any vehicle/mechanical problems as long as you are willing to work with him, and he is always throwing ideas at you to try and help you problem-solve. He is a Goodman-Armstrong Creek Alumni, so he likes being able to give back to the school and community that he grew up in. On behalf of the student body, we would like to thank Mr. Wysocki for everything he does for our school.

Due to the weather conditions today, grades 7-12 will have a virtual learning day. 7-12th grade students should check Google classroom if they are able. Students in grades 4K-6th will have a snow day! School is closed for everyone Friday, March 31,2023. All after school activities for tonight are also canceled. Stay safe.

Open House tonight, 3/29/23, 6:00-8:00PM at the High School Building for K-12 students, families, and community. (Sorry, no concessions.) Join us to celebrate student projects grades 4K-12 as well as participate in science experiments, math scavenger hunt, corn hole, and art projects. Watch students perform forensics pieces (6:15, 6:45, & 7:30) and demonstrate the plasma cutter. The fire department and rescue squad will also be available to talk about current and upcoming programs. Local author Joe Verdegan will be speaking at 7:00PM in the high school library. Marinette County also invites you to participate in the "vape room" throughout the evening. Come learn about school based counseling services, Healthy Youth Coalition, and Dual Credit Courses among other things. Everyone is welcome! Hope to see you there.
