Dear Goodman-Armstrong Creek Parents, Caregivers, Students and Community Members:
We continue to remain hopeful that we will be able to begin the school year with everyone physically present. Please be aware that plans are constantly under review and are likely to change between now and the beginning of the new school year on September 1st. We continue to monitor local health department COVID numbers, reported cases in both Forest and Marinette Counties, and review updated recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and health care authorities in our decision making process. Communication with area school districts also continues on an ongoing basis.
At this time the following safeguards and protocols will be implemented in our schools and classrooms in an effort to provide safe and healthy learning environments for everyone. To that end, we will:
Established human traffic flow for entrance and exit to the school and in hallways and common areas
Staggered use of common areas (lunch room, playground, gymnasium) and disinfect frequently in such areas
Redesigning areas in which students would normally be in close proximity
Limiting/Eliminating small and large group activities
Continued, frequent, and scheduled hand washing and sanitizing during the school day
Keeping students in cohort or grade level groupings during the instructional day
Frequent cleaning/disinfection of frequently used and shared surfaces and equipment
Limiting the use of common items, supplies, and materials
Eliminating use of drinking fountains - Students may bring their own filled water bottles
Wearing face coverings and/or protective barrier shields by school personnel and students
Students and staff will be educated on proper use, removal, and washing of cloth face coverings. Parents/guardians are encouraged to use this link to educate themselves and their child on face coverings. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html
Creation of physical distancing in shared areas
Separation of students/staff who become ill while at school
Designation of locations in each school for students/staff who become ill during the school day
Our schools will be cleaned and disinfected daily according to CDC guidelines
Clean and disinfect daily according to established CDC and health department guidelines
The district will make every effort to remain open for teaching and learning to occur. You can help us to do so by taking proper care of yourself and others and by practicing safety measures that are likely to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
NOTE: In the event a person diagnosed with COVID-19 is determined to have been in the building and poses a risk to the community, it may be necessary for the school to close for a certain time period for cleaning and disinfection. The Goodman-Armstrong Creek School will discuss the appropriate management with our local health department for guidance.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions and concerns as they arise.
Respectfully,
Steven M. Bloom, District Administrator/Principal
