Notification of School Closure
October 8, 2020
After due consideration and in consultation with the local County Health Department a determination has been made to temporarily close our schools. This decision is not made lightly and is being made in the best interest in the safety and well-being of our students and staff members. The district understands that closing schools places an unexpected burden on our families. Your support and understanding at this time is very much appreciated.
The closure will begin on Friday, October 9th and will initially last through Friday, October 23rd (previously scheduled as a teacher inservice day). This Friday, teachers will be planning virtual learning activities for their students. Virtual instruction will begin on Monday, October 12th. In person school attendance will resume on Monday, October 26th. In the meantime, teachers will be communicating with their students regarding instructional expectations in each grade level and subject area. All students have been asked to begin the habit of taking their technology device and charger home as well as other materials needed to participate fully in virtual learning.
Further messaging will be shared using established communication tools including voice messages, postings to the district website, and use of the district Facebook page. When receiving a phone call from the district please listen to the recorded message in its entirety and do not call the district office unless you are seeking additional information regarding the school closure. A schedule for breakfast and lunch meal distribution will be shared soon.
Athletic events scheduled through Friday of this week will be conducted as planned. All other extracurricular programs and activities scheduled during the closure will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
During the initial closure we ask that you continue to contact the district office should your child be ill or exhibit COVID-19 related symptoms. This information is critical to contact tracing. It is expected that students who are well will be actively involved and engaged in learning activities planned for their continued academic growth.
As COVID-19 is present in our communities we also ask that during the time of our closure you practice safe protocols as set forth in the Centers for Disease Control guidelines and remain safe and well. Should you or your children experience known symptoms please consider being tested and follow sound medical recommendations.
Our staff members take great pride in the work that they do. We are known as “the little school district that can, and does!” Diligent efforts have already taken place to prepare for the likelihood of a school closure. While not desired, we are prepared to maintain services for our students and families.
Should you have any questions please feel free to contact Dr. Steven M. Bloom, District Administrator/Principal at 715-336-2575, ext. 203 or email@example.com.
