Brenda Wilkey 4K-12 Art

I graduated from Northern Michigan University in 2007 with a bachelor of science degree in art education(K-12) and electronic imaging. I began my teaching career, student teaching at GAC and continued with the school after my student teaching. The next two years had me working as an AmeriCorps VISTA and after school coordinator at three school districts in Northern Menominee County. Over the course of the last nine years, I was hired to teach art and technology at four locations through Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community Schools. I called East Side High Alternative School, IMKCS Adult Education, Holy Spirit Catholic School and Bishop Baraga Catholic School home during this time.

During my time at BBCS, I was fortunate to be selected as a candidate and able to participate in the Trustey Family STEM Fellowship through the University of Notre Dame for the last three summers. It was here that I found my way in integrating art, technology and STEM into all of my classrooms. I thrive on collaboration with my students and fellow teachers and I am proud to be returning to where my teaching career began. I bring with me twelve more years of experience, an incredible desire to see my students excel with strong technological skills and a passion to always bring more to the table!

Besides being able to explore so many more art mediums, I am most excited to explore technology integration through robotics, computer science and 3D design with all of my new students. Here’s to returning home to Goodman-Armstrong Creek Schools!
